FAQs

What is an escape room?

An escape room is a live adventure game where your team solves puzzles, finds clues, and completes challenges to achieve a goal before time runs out.

Free on-site parking

Unlike many town-centre escape rooms, Extremescape offers convenient free parking right outside the venue for all guests.

Drinks and nibbles are welcome

You're welcome to bring your own drinks and nibbles to enjoy during your escape room adventure. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are welcome. With game times of up to 90 minutes, many teams enjoy turning their escape room experience into a relaxed social occasion as well as an exciting challenge.

Do I need any special knowledge?

No. Escape rooms are designed for everyone. Logic, teamwork, communication, and observation are much more important than specialist knowledge.

More Time to Escape

Unlike many escape rooms that last just 60 minutes, most of our adventures give you more time to explore, solve puzzles and immerse yourself in the story. Our Viking escape room lasts 75 minutes, while Pirate Ship and Lost Tomb both offer a full 90-minute experience.

How early should we arrive?

We recommend arriving at least 10–15 minutes before your booking time to allow for check-in, safety information, and the game briefing.

Are escape rooms scary?

Our escape rooms are designed to be exciting rather than frightening. There are no live actors in any of our rooms.

Four completely different themed escape rooms

Whether you're visiting for the first time or returning for another adventure, there's always a new challenge waiting to be discovered.

Easy access from surrounding areas

With free parking and excellent transport links, reaching your next escape room adventure couldn't be easier.

Experiences suitable for all ages and abilities

Whether you're new to escape rooms or a seasoned player, our adventures are designed for everyone to enjoy.

How many people can play?

This depends on the room. Pirate Ship & Lost Tomb have a maximum of 8 players, Viking & Christmas have a maximum of 6 players.

Accessibility

Access does vary between games. Pirate Ship is located upstairs and is not suitable for wheelchairs. Lost Tomb and Viking can both be accessed through a separate fire exit entrance, while our Christmas room has an external entrance with just a small step. If you have any specific accessibility requirements, please contact us and we will be happy to help.

Can children take part?

Children of all ages are welcome. Every child is different, parents know best whether their child will enjoy the experience, so we simply ask that parents actively take part and supervise younger players throughout the game. Groups are welcome from the age of 14 and over. For younger groups, at least one adult must be present inside the room during the experience.

Will we be locked in the room?

For safety reasons, players can leave the room at any time. Modern escape rooms are designed with safety as a top priority.

What if we don't escape in time?

Not every team escapes within the allotted time. At Extremescape, if time allows before the next booking, we often give teams a little extra time to finish their adventure.

What happens if we get stuck?

Your Game Master can provide hints if needed. The aim is for everyone to have fun and enjoy the experience.

What should we wear?

Comfortable clothing and sensible footwear are recommended. No special equipment is required.

Will We

Escape

It's not easy to rate the difficulty of our rooms, having seen thousands of teams play our games, we've learned that every group is different. Some teams fly through a room that others find challenging, while different skills can make certain rooms easier or harder.
At Extremescape, we believe the fun shouldn't stop when the timer does. If there's enough time before the next booking, we'll often give teams a little extra time to complete their adventure. That's why around 95% of our teams escape our rooms
– although not always before the clock runs out!
